By using the EdShelf app, I found a great writing app that can be used in a special education, or elementary/middle school classroom. The app is called Write About This. With this app, students can access random writing prompts to write on, and send them directly to you through email.
The best part about this app is, if you have a student whose spelling is poor and their writing is hard to read, they can read what they wrote into the app. This gives the teacher a better understanding of what the student wrote.
Other features that I thought benefited the teacher and the student were, creating your own prompt and saving the write abouts. Students can save what they wrote on this app so they can see the progress they have made from the beginning of the year to the end. The students can also create their own picture prompt by taking a picture and asking a question related to the picture. This feature is great for students who are not interested in the random picture prompt.
1. Can only save one Write About in the free version
2. You can only access a minimal number of picture prompts in the fee version.
3. If the student using the speaking feature when writing it can not be heard when sent through to the teacher’s email.
